We explored different designs through this method with a focus on creating a new lacing system, and a better outsole.

This process helped us in coming up with a pragmatic 'real-world' solution.

THE AQUASHOES

ADAPTIVE GRIP

The user would pull the lacing from the back to tighten the shoe while wearing, and also compress the shoe to remove the excess sand and water.

OUTSOLE

The hard parts on the outsole enable the user to have some extra traction while going on surfaces other than beach sand.

MESH UPPER + VAMP

Sand and water can easily fall through the mesh upper enabling the shoe to not retain any extra unnecessary material and be lightweight at all times.

A NEW LACING SYSTEM

The lacing system goes though the vamp, the outsole and comes out from the heel counter.

EASY COLLAPSIBLE CONSTRUCTION

The construction enables the user to fold the whole shoe inside onto itself, and stow it away at the end of the beach day.
